Bridge Replacement Scheduled on MO 81 in Clark County

Public invited to community briefing

HANNIBAL - Weather permitting, Monday, March 5, MO 81 will be closed to traffic north of Kahoka to replace the Fox River Bridge. The bridge replacement should take approximately 66 working days. A community briefing will be held on Tuesday,

February 28 from 4:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Clark County High School in the commons area. "There are three bridges in Clark County we are replacing this year, and we want to be sure area residents are aware of these closures," said MoDOT Construction and Materials Engineer Macy Rodenbaugh.

The 82-year-old bridge over the Fox River will be replaced with a nine foot wider bridge and is expected to open by mid-May. Alternate routes of travel are available over MO 81, US 136, US 61/27 and Route C.

This summer, Route D at Little Wyaconda and Wyaconda Rivers will be replaced. By the end of the summer of 2012, eight bridges in Clark County will have been repaired or replaced under MoDOT's innovative Safe and Sound Bridge Program.
