MACON - MoDOT and the City of Kahoka will hold a groundbreaking ceremony Friday, February 17th at 1:00 p.m. on the east side of the Kahoka square to signify a new sidewalk which will be built. The ceremony will include participation from Representative Craig Redmon, the City of Kahoka, the Clark County Health Department, and federal and county officials have been invited.

The project is a partnership between MoDOT and the City of Kahoka to share the cost of the new sidewalk. "Kahoka is benefiting from several grants to improve our sidewalks and we are pleased to be able to provide good sidewalks for our citizens," said Jim Sherwood, city assistant. The project involves removing and reconstructing the sidewalks located on the east side of the square along Morgan Street, and the west side along Washington Street. The contract was awarded to JD Bishop Construction and work is expected to begin within the next few weeks and be completed within 120 working days.
