Carl William “Bill” Cheatum, age 60, of Edina, Missouri, diedThursday, August 5, 2010, at his home. He was born on July 11, 1950, at Edina, Missouri, the son of Allan McCall “Mack” and Teresa Helen Langhammer Cheatum.
He was united in marriage to Beverly Fern Harrington on April 4, 1995 at Edina, Missouri an she preceded him in death in 2000. On December 20, 2002, he was united in marriage to Shirley Walker.
Surviving are his wife Shirley of Edina, Missouri, his mother Helen Cheatum of Novelty, Missouri, five children, Jeremy Cheatum and wife Waunita of Edina, Missouri, Jeffery Cheatum of Novelty, Missouri, Julie Cheatum of Louisville, Kentucky, Justina Folsom and husband David of LaPlata, Missouri, and Gary Beckman and wife Joc of Pontiac, Illinois, two sisters, Diana Cheatum of Novelty, Missouri and Donna Bradshaw of Kirksville, Missouri, eight grandchildren, Jacob and Lucas Cheatum, Michael, Laken and Conner Folsom, Lauren, Andrew and Keyton Beckman, and several nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his father and his wife Beverly Cheatum.
Bill received his education in Novelty, graduated from Knox County R1 High School, Class of 1968 and attended Quincy Technical School. He was engaged in farming in the Novelty area and for thirty-three years drove a school bus for Knox County R-1 High School.
Bill loved children, spending time with his friends, family and grandchildren, driving his school bus and time spent with his dog Puggles who traveled with him everywhere. Bill was a member of the Novelty Christian Church.
Funeral services were 10 a.m. Monday, August 9, 2010, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri. Reverend Paul Milliken officiated the services. Burial was in the Novelty Cemetery. Music was provided by Marsha Pinson and Martha Marie Huse. Casket bearers were Roger Applegate, Doug Perrigo, Patrick Burke, Ronny Walker, Danny Gibbons and Kenny Dooley.
Memorials may be to the Novelty Senior Center or to the Knox County R1 School (a fund to be designated later) or Knox County R-1 FFA Chapter. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Hudson-Rimer funeral Home, P.O. Box 1, Edina, Missouri, 63537.
