DERRICK MICHAEL BALL

Derrick Michael Ball, age 10, of rural Kahoka, MO, died Sunday, July 18, 2010, in the emergency room of Keokuk Area Hospital.

Derrick was born January 19, 2000, in Memphis, MO, the son of Stacie Clifford Ball.

He is survived by his mother and step-father, Stacie Clifford Bass and Jimmie Bass of Kahoka, MO; grandparents: Mike and Lillian Clifford of Kahoka, MO, Charlene Brecheisen of Vassar, KS, Jim and Beth Bass of Canberra, Australia; great grandparents: Norma Whitehead of Kahoka, MO, Dorothy Brecheisen of Vassar, KS, and Marian Bass of Ottawa, KS; two brothers: Keyton Bass and Remmington Bass of Kahoka, MO; a sister, Kara Ball of Kahoka, MO; aunts and uncles, Jason and LeAnn Clifford of Kahoka, MO, Patrick and Jasmine Clifford of Columbia, MO and Rodney and Season Bass of Ottowa, KS; as well as great aunts and uncles, cousins and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmie Bass IV in October, 2009, and an aunt, Michelle Bass.

Derrick would have been in the 5th grade this fall at Blackhawk Elementary and was a very gifted student. He was his grandpa’s shadow and loved working and doing things with him. He played the guitar and would perform on stage with his family at different festivals they attended. He was a typical boy who loved peanut butter, fishing, hunting and playing his D.S.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at the Wayland United Methodist Church with Pastor Ray Gilbert officiating. Mrs. Bev Laffoon and Mrs. Lynn Summers were instrumentalist. Selections were recordings "His Eye is on the Sparrow" and"Folsom Prison Blues".

Pallbearers were Timothy Williams, Dustin Williams, Sean Howard and Justin Bartels.

Burial was in the Kahoka Cemetery.

Friends could register between the hours of 9 and 5 on Tuesday at Wilson Funeral Home.

Memorials in lieu of flowers were suggested to the family.
