Fredrick DeWayne Hart, 77, of Chiefland, FL, formerly of Montrose, IA, died Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at the VA Hospital in Gainesville, FL.
He was born on April 16, 1930 in Canton, MO the son of Claude C. and Emma Evelyn Harker Hart. Fredrick was united in marriage to Rita Darlene Slater on October 6, 1957 in Pittsfield, IL. She preceded him in death on October 31, 1990.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict.
Rita and Fred had been owner-operators and drivers for McGill Trucking in Columbia, NC. Fred retired in 2001.
Fred loved to fish in his spare time.
Fred is survived by three sons, David Hart of Chiefland, FL, Fred DeWayne Hart, Jr. and his wife Lois of Monmouth, IL, and Alan Hart and his wife Rosalie of Crystal River, FL, five daughters, Cheryl Taghon and her friend Dennis Knuth of Monmouth, IL, Terrill Walter and her husband Klaus of Weihenzell, Germany, and Diana Roberts and her husband Rick of Luray, MO, Karen Hart and Debbie Hart both of Ontario, CA, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, William and Claude Hart.
A graveside service with military rites will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday at the Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk, IA with Reverend Goldie Laymon officiating. The procession to the cemetery will leave at 10:45 a.m. from the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Children Hospital.
There will be no visitation.
