Agnes Fern Bowen

 

Agnes Fern Bowen, age 89, of Quincy, Illinois and formerly of La Plata, Missouri passed away Monday (June 11, 2007) at the Blessing Hospital Center in Quincy, Illinois.

Born August 15, 1917 in Green Castle, Missouri she was the daughter of John and Goldie (Wiedenkoffer) Maggart. On October 26, 1956 in Bloomfield, Iowa she married Stanley Bowen, who preceded her in death on November 15, 1997.

Also preceding her in death were her parents, four brothers, one sister, three nephews and two nieces.

Surviving are one brother, Wayne Maggart of Quincy, Illinois; one sister, Lucille Owsley of Quincy, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

Agnes lived most of her life in the Novelty and La Plata communities before moving to Quincy in 1998.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday (June 16, 2007) at the Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. Officiating will be Pastor Elmer "Mac" McCully. Music will be provided by organist, Shirley Matticks and soloist, John Gorham. Musical selections will be "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Amazing Grace".

Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery, La Plata, Missouri. Pallbearers will be Tony Butler, Tony Owsley, Kiley Wardlow, Jimmy Young, Bill Maggart and Robert Maggart.

Visitation will be held Saturday (June 16, 2007) from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Travis Funeral Chapel, 125 S. Church Street, La Plata, Missouri 63549.
