Jerad Harness Wins KICK-FM Colgate Country Showdown
Jerad Harness, of Warsaw, Illinois was the winner of the 2007 KICK-FM Colgate Country Showdown held Saturday, June 16th, at Upper Moorman Park in Quincy, IL. Harness performed in front of a crowd of nearly 2000 enthusiastic country music fans. The popular Tri-State entertainers “Mad Hoss Jackson” also performed and served as back-up band for the contestants.
Second place in the competition was awarded to Brooke Rochelle of Downing, MO., and third place was awarded to Drew Stevens of Palmyra, MO
Jerad Harness won prizes from local merchants and now advances to the State Showdown contest to be held in August at the DuQuoin State Fair, where the prizes include $1,000 in cash and the opportunity to compete at one of the six regional Country Showdown contests in the fall. Winners at the regional level are flown expense-paid to the National Final where they will compete for the Grand Prize of $100,000 and the coveted National Title. The road to stardom begins each spring with hometown talent contests sponsored by over four hundred radio stations across the country. A uniform judging system on all levels of the competition ensures fairness.
The KICK-FM “Colgate Country Showdown” is celebrating its 26th Anniversary this year and is designed to find the most promising country music talent in America, giving these performers a chance to launch their professional careers. Thousands of aspiring performing artists compete annually for the Country Showdown title.
Artists who also competed in the 2007 KICK-FM Colgate Country Showdown were Karmon & Kelli (Karmon Kindhart and Kelli Jo Smith) of Quincy, John Bolton of Quincy, 8 year old Ali Nicole Browning of Perry, IL, Danielle Noncek of Johnsburg, IL, Andy Campbell of Faucett, MO., and The Spratt Family of Philadelphia, MO.
