MFA Oil Company Gives Away a 2007 Ford F-150 Flexible Fuel Vehicle

Columbia, MO (July 6, 2007) MFA Oil marked this Fourth of July by declaring Missouri motorists’ independence from foreign oil. In a continuing effort to help educate consumers about the benefits of E85, MFA Oil gave away a 2007 Ford F-150 Flexible Fuel Vehicle (FFV) at ABC-17’s Fourth of July Fire in the Sky celebration in Columbia. E85 is a blend of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline and is used in FFVs. Ethanol for E85 is made from corn grown by Missouri farmers, produced by Missouri ethanol plants and now available to Missouri motorists.

With a record-setting Fire in the Sky crowd cheering her on, Elda Wineland picked the one lucky key that started the truck. Wineland a 93 years old from California, MO, and has been a long-time member of the California propane plant. "Never in my dreams did I think I would be lucky enough to win. I have never won anything before in my life before tonight," Wineland said after putting the winning key in the ignition.

MFA Oil launched the truck giveaway contest on June 1 with customers entering their names in a drawing for a chance to win the Ford F-150. Registrations were accepted at all MFA Oil Break Time convenience stores, Jiffy Lube and Big O Tires franchises and refined fuel and propane plants throughout Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Iowa. Wineland and five other finalists were chosen randomly from more than 30,000 entries. The other finalist included Ira Hubbell of Columbia, Stephen Kistner, Jr. of Columbia, Dewey Barr of Stover, and Heather Davis of Columbia. In addition to the grand prize, MFA Oil gave the other four finalists a $100 gift card, redeemable at any of its retail locations.

"Our goal is to continue to help educate consumers about E85 so that it becomes their fuel of choice and let the consumers know about our quality products and services that we offer," said Jerry Taylor, President of MFA Oil Company. "In doing so, we continue to demonstrate MFA Oil’s commitment to strengthening rural economies through support of the biofuel industry and bringing the best possible products and services to our customers."
