LUCILLE THOMAS
Lucille Thomas, of Lewistown, Missouri, died Saturday, July 21, 2007, in Country Aire Retirement Estates in Lewistown, Missouri, at 94 years of age.
She was the daughter of John and Ruby Thompson Gidney, born August 3, 1912, near LaBelle, Missouri.
Lucille Gidney united in marriage with Orville ‘Pat’ Patrick on July 15, 1934. He preceded her in death on December 3, 1958. She united in marriage with Ernest ‘Tommy’ Thomas on November 30, 1962. He also preceded her in death on May 14, 1999.
A graduate of the LaBelle high School Class of 1930, Lucille continued her education at Kirksville State Teachers College. She taught in rural schools of the LaBelle area for several years. She was employed by the Lewis County Extension Office, Monticello, Missouri, and Dykstra Clinic, Canton, Missouri. In later years, Lucille served as Site Director of the Senior Center in Lewistown, Missouri.
Memberships included the LaBelle Chapter #316 Order of the eastern Star, Merry Makers Club of LaBelle and the Town and Country Club and Garden Club of Lewistown.
Lucille was a member of the Lewistown Christian Church.
Surviving are two stepsons, Don Thomas and wife, Judy, Gale Thomas and wife Elaine, all of Kansas City, Missouri; five step grandchildren; nephews, Ken Shugart and wife Katherine, of Bradley, Illinois, Gary ‘Butch’ Patrick of LaBelle; nieces, Norma Shugart of Decatur, Illinois, and Patty Weitman of LaBelle; four great nephews; one great niece; several great-great nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Irma Jean Walker of Canton, Missouri.
Reverend George Lee officiated for morning services in Coder Chapel on Tuesday, July 24, 2007. Burial followed in the LaBelle Cemetery with Benny and Skip Lay, Wyverne Penn, Mark, Robbie and Gary Shugart as pallbearers.
