Herbert J. Echternkamp

   Herbert John "Fuzz" Echternkamp, age 84, formerly of 950 St. Charles, Quincy died Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at 7:15 a.m. at Knox County Nursing Home in Edina, MO.

   He was born January 24, 1923 in Quincy, Illinois the son of John W. and Louise Althoff Echternkamp. He is survived by his wife, Janice Frances (Finck) whom he married on August 9, 1946 in Bluff Hall Church.

   He was a 1941 graduate of Quincy High School, and he worked as a machinist for Gardner Denver for 42 years. He was a member of Bluff Hall Church, the Quarter Century Club at Gardner Denver, and the Machinist Union #822.

   Survivors in addition to his wife include, two daughters: Diane Willis and husband Dennis of Monticello, MO; and Jane Ann Campbell and husband Eldon of Edina, MO; 9 grandchildren, Cindy Schieferdecker, Canton, MO, Paul Blanton and Mel, Meyer, IL, John Wottman and Lindsey, Durham, MO, Denise Hobbs and Ben, Quincy, Tami Davis, Quincy, Chris Campbell and Jamie, Edina, MO, Matthew Campbell and Julie, Edina, MO, Melissa Nichols and fiancé Rick, Edina, MO, and Joseph Campbell, Edina, MO; 13 great grandchildren; a brother, Allen W. Echternkamp and wife Virginia of Quincy; and a sister, Louise Schmidt of Palmyra, MO.

   He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Wilmer Carl in infancy.

   Services were held Saturday at 11 am in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, Quincy, IL  with the Rev. David Howald officiating. Burial was in Bluff Hall Cemetery. Memorials made to Bluff Hall Church or Bluff Hall Cemetery in his name would be appreciated. Hansen-Spear Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
