Football Hawks Picked Third In Pre-Season MSFA Midwest Poll

(Quincy, Ill.) The Quincy University football team has been chosen to finish third in the 2007 Mid-States Football Association Midwest League Pre-Season poll. The Hawks received 42 votes, with St. Ambrose picked first with 61 votes and McKendree picked second with 59 votes.

Quincy finished the 2006 season 5-4 overall and 4-4 in the MSFA Midwest League. It marked the first time the Hawks have finished with an above .500 record since 1994. The Hawks are also ranked 30th in the 2007 NAIA Spring Football Poll. Quincy opens the 2007 season against the University of Southern Illinois-Carbondale on Aug. 30.

Following Quincy in the Midwest League poll are William Penn, Olivet Nazarene, Trinity International, Iowa Wesleyan and St. Francis (Ill.). Saint Francis (Ind.) is picked to win the Mideast and is followed by Ohio Dominican, Saint Xavier, Walsh, Malone, Urbana, Taylor and Marian.
