Lady Hawks Add Irby, Finalize Roster
(Quincy, Ill.) The Quincy University women’s basketball team has announced the addition of Whintae Irby, a 5-6 guard, finalizing the Lady Hawks roster for the 2007-08 season. Irby joins the Lady Hawks after one season at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock.
"Whintae is a true point guard. She should help fill the void left by Shaquita Crawford," said Quincy head coach J.D. Gravina. "She is a very good ball handler and passer and will bring additional speed and quickness to the floor. She is also very athletic and can use that to hound opposing point guards on the defensive end."
Irby, who will be a sophomore this season, played in 20 games, starting one and averaged 0.1 points and 0.7 rebounds per game while dishing out 11 assists last season at Arkansas-Little Rock.
Irby, a native of Peoria, Ill., graduated from Woodruff High School in 2006.
