Carnival Coming to Downtown Kirksville

KIRKSVILLE – The City of Kirksville Parks and Recreation Department along with the Kirksville Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting Evans United Shows, a carnival ride company from Plattsburg, MO, in Downtown Kirksville, MO, on August 16th, 17th and 18th.  Officials from Evans United Shows say they will bring around a dozen rides as well as games to the Downtown square of Kirksville.

Steve Bell, Director of the Kirksville Parks and Rec department says, “Carnival rides and games will be on Washington and Elson streets in Downtown Kirksville and concessions from local clubs and organizations will be on the courthouse lawn.”  The carnival will kick off on Thursday night with armbands for $12 at 6 p.m.  This offer is good for all ages and allows participants unlimited riding until 11 p.m.  “We are hoping that Kirksville residents as well as the surrounding communities will drive into Downtown Kirksville for the carnival,” says Bell.

The Chamber of Commerce along with the Kirksville Downtown Improvement Committee, Inc. (KDICI) are also planning a student welcome for the new Truman, A.T. Still and Moberly Area Community College students on Saturday, August 18th from 4 – 7 p.m.  Roberta Santee of US Bank and President of the KDICI said, “Our New Student Welcome event allows the Truman, students that move in on Sunday, and their families, along with the other college students in town, to visit with the many retailers, banks, churches and restaurants that will have exhibits on the Courthouse lawn on Saturday evening from 4 – 7 p.m.”

Saturday morning will be the Kiwanis Farmers Market in Downtown Kirksville from 7 – 11 a.m. on Franklin Street and the Courthouse north parking lot.
