MoDOT to Open Route 61 north of Canton Next Week

HANNIBAL – Next week, MoDOT plans to open the additional six-mile four-lane section of Route 61 in Lewis County just north of Canton. Pending good weather, on Monday, September 10, motorists will be traveling on a four-lane highway from north of Canton to the Clark County line. Motorists should still expect some roadwork and lane closures as crews continue to work on sections of the highway throughout the month.

By mid-October, on the Clark County project which is still under construction, MoDOT’s contractor plans to open the east side of the overpass at the new interchange on Route 61 at Route 27 (formerly the 136 Spur) near Running Fox Elementary School. "We would like to thank the residents of Clark and Lewis Counties for their patience as we complete the final work on this project," said MoDOT’s District Construction and Materials Engineer Macy Rodenbaugh.
