RE: The Missouri Ethics Commission’s Campaign Finance Decision

“By establishing a procedure for candidates to refund their excessive contributions, the Missouri Ethics Commission took power away from lobbyists and wealthy corporations and gave it right back to regular Missourians, where it belongs,” said Jack Cardetti, Missouri Democratic Party spokesman. “This decision clearly places the burden on individual candidates to show why this decision should not apply to them. We fully expect Matt Blunt and his team of lawyers to create every phantom hardship imaginable to justify keeping millions in special interest contributions. But make no mistake, the only hardship Matt Blunt faces is his inability to continue to sell state government to the highest bidder in exchange for unlimited campaign contributions.”
