MICHAEL L. THOMSON

 

Michael Leon Thomson, son of Herbert L. Thomson and Amy Maxine (Crook) Thomson, was born on October 3, 1957, and passed away September 29, 2007, at the age of 49 years 11 months 26 days.

Mike was united in marriage to Linda Blankenship on October 24, 1976. To this union three children, Jason, Amanda and Jessica were born.

Mike was a member of the Bridge, Structural and Ornamental Ironworkers Local #10 of Kansas City, MO for twenty-six years. He very much enjoyed his work and the people he worked with, making many lasting friends.

Some of the larger projects he worked on were the Thomas Hill Power Plant, Moberly, MO, the Convention Center and Arena in Omaha, Neb., and the Greater Miami International Airport in Miami, Fla.

Mike was united in marriage to Paula Kelly on July 13, 2005. Together they enjoyed riding 4 Wheelers, swimming, going to auctions, cooking out, and sitting on the porch watching the sunrise and enjoying the view at their home North of Memphis, MO.

Mike loved his grandchildren and very much enjoyed playing with them as often as possible. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three uncles, two aunts and one cousin and is survived in life by his wife Paula, son Jason Thomson and wife Sarah of Nettleton, MO, two daughters Amanda and husband Josh Wilson of Nettleton, MO and Jessica Thomson of Nettleton, MO; eight grandchildren; one brother, Dick Thomson and wife Ardie of Memphis, MO; two sisters, Bonnie and husband David Hayes of Memphis, MO, and Sandy and husband Gary Harrison of Alexandria, MO; one uncle, Claude Crook of Downing, MO; two aunts, Freda Crook of Memphis, MO and Berneice Shanes of Memphis, MO; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial services were held at 10 a.m., Thursday, October 4 at the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Memphis.  Brother Jack Sumption, pastor of the Memphis First Christian Church, officiated the service   Inurnment was in the Barker United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the family and can be left at or mailed to the Gerth Funeral Service, 115 S. Main St., Memphis, MO 63555.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Gerth Funeral Service from their Memphis chapel.
