  JOHN J. DOVIN

   John Dovin, age 76, of Shelbina, Missouri, died Sunday, October 7, 2007, at approximately 8:00 PM, at the Salt River Nursing Home in Shelbina, Missouri.

   He was born on April 18, 1931 at Streator, Illinois, the son of Sophia and John Dovin.

   He was united in marriage on August 30, 1958, to Beatrice Ann Siel in Bremerton, Washington.  She survived and resides in Euless, Texas.

   John is also survived by nine children, Beatrice Marie Schulte and her husband Damian of Kirksville, MO; John Paul Dovin and his wife Patricia of Kirksville, MO; Damian Dovin and his wife Karina of Otsego, MI; Julio Dovin of Euless, TX; Ruth Lunsford and her husband Paul of Des Moines, Iowa; Lara Wood and her husband Mark of Des Moines, IA; Dimitri Dovin and his wife Bobbie of Belle, MO; David Dovan and his wife Tina of Shelbina, MO; and Daniel Dovin and his wife Jody of Shelbina, MO; one daughter-in-law, Vicki Kijewski and friend Lynda Green of Iowa City, IA; 24 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Daniel Dovin and his wife Alayne of Redmond, Washington, and William Dovin and his wife Leona of Streator, IL, and one sister, Patricia Stimac and her husband John of Streator, IL.

   He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, Dr. Irma Sophia Dovin and Nel Nicole Dovin and one infant great-grandson, Damian Michael Schulte.

   John graduated from High School in Streator, IL, and attended the University of Washington.

  He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edina, MO.  Mr. Dovin and his family moved to Missouri in 1968, where his family continued to grow.  He retired from Cardwell Lumber Company, Novelty, MO, in 1994.

   He enjoyed sailing, biking, reading, fishing, treasure hunting at sales, and tinkering with his finds.  John was a jack of all trades and loved the outdoors, and a good argument.  He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling to visit them at their homes.

   Visitation was held Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at the Greening-Eagan Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, MO.

   A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edina, MO with burial at the St. Joseph Cemetery there.  The Celebrant was  Father Mike Coleman.

   Memorials may be made to the Salt River Nursing Home.
