Indians Thump Kirksville
The Clark County Indians traveled to Kirksville for their season opener and open their season they did at the Tigers’ expense. The Indians faced a taller team in the Tigers, but no one told Colt Sommers that as he pumped in a first quarter 7 points. Ethan Allen said "Don’t leave me out" as he added a three and 3 baskets for 9 points and the Indians took the quarter 18-15.
The second quarter saw Lynn Williams take over for Michael Brennan as he sat at the 2:38 mark of quarter one with foul trouble and all Mr. Williams did was pump in 9 points. Colt Sommers added another 7 and the Indians led at halftime 36-33 behind Colt Sommers with 14.
The third quarter saw Michael Brennan return and he and the Indians put a big hurt on the Tigers as Brennan put in 14 third quarter points, Ethan Allen added another 4, Sommers added 4 and the Indians took the quarter 24-11 and led 60-44 after three and Coach Smith & Kirchner were giving each high fives on the sidelines.
The Tigers took the fourth quarter 17-12. Ethan Allen fouled out at 1:42 mark, but the Indians rolled to an impressive on the road victory 72-61 for their opening game of the season.
The Indians were led by Colt Sommers with a game high 22 points followed by Ethan Allen with 18. Michael Brennan chipped in with 16, Lynn Williams came off the bench to add 9 points and Brian Plenge the quarterback had 7.
