Tigers Take Conference Victory Over Atlanta Girls

   Christina Scudder scored a season high 24 points, leading Brashear (6-2, 1-1) to a 62-46 conference win at Atlanta. Former Knox County Middle School girls’ coach Amanda Livingston’s team played Brashear tough through three quarters.

   The first quarter was an 11 all dead heat. Brashear went to the middle for 13 of their 17 second period points. The Lady Tigers outscored the home team 17-10 for a 28-21 half time edge.

   Four different Atlanta players scored during a third quarter Lady Hornet rally. The Lady Hornets kept Brashear off the free throw line and outscored their guests 18-12 during the third quarter. The Lady Tigers took a slim 40-39 lead into the fourth period.

   Brashear hit their free throws and reeled off a 22-7 fourth quarter run to a 62-46 victory. Both sides had balanced scoring. The Lady Tigers went a long way toward securing their first Tri-County Conference girls’ win of the season at the free throw line.

   The Lady Tigers sank 18 of 27 free throws on the night. Atlanta made five of 17 free throws during the contest. Tiffany Watson led Atlanta with 12 points. Beth Voss was in double figures with ten points. Atlanta wound up with 15 points from non starters. The Lady Tigers’ two subs put in eight points on the night.

   Hailee Kelsey scored 11 Brashear points. Jessi Hill fired in nine points, eight during the second half. Caroline Slavin scored eight Lady Tiger points. Stephanie Elsea came off the bench and contributed six Brashear points. Abby McKim and Emily Ladwig added two Lady Tiger points each.
