Canton Hands Lady Eagles First Round Loss

Danielle Caldwell scored a game high 21 points leading Canton (6-2) to a 67-31 Highland Tournament victory over Knox County (3-5). Canton jumped out to an 18-8 first period lead and powered to a 35-17 halftime advantage.
Tori Niemann and Danielle Caldwell led Canton to an 18-11third quarter run. The Lady Tigers shut down Knox County’s offense during the fourth quarter, closing on a 14-3 run.
"Canton has four or five great athletes. They are quick, long and returned everybody," said Knox County coach John Weaver. "We turned the ball over way too many times. Canton just plays at another level right now."
Lindsey Lillard scored 15 Canton points. Tori Niemann and Jessi Logsdon were in double figures with 12 Canton points each.
Amanda Woods led Knox County with 12 points. The Lady Eagles were 5-11 from the free throw line. Stacey Leckbee fired in six KCHS points. Katie Ausmus, Caley Palmer, and Lorrie Peters scored three points each. Tessa Ramer and Becca Mallett added two Knox County points each.
