Tigers Take North Shelby Boys’ Seventh Place

Conference rival Atlanta (1-11) jumped out to a 15-8 lead in the boys’ seventh place game of the 2008 North Shelby Tournament. The third seeded Tigers responded with a 20-9 second quarter run and held on for a 49-46 victory.
Neither side shot free throws well. Brashear (10-4) survived despite sinking only one of ten fourth quarter free throws. The Tigers were 7-20 overall from the line. Atlanta got to the charity stripe 17 times and came away with six points.
Five different Tigers scored during the second and fourth periods. Brashear led 28-24 at the half. Game high scorer Zeke Garnett scored eight Atlanta points during the third quarter. The Hornets outscored Brashear 14-11 during the third quarter. The Tigers led by a single point at 39-38 after three quarters.
Brashear was able to hold Atlanta to eight fourth quarter points and escaped with the 49-46 win. Zeke Garnett tossed in 18 Hornet points. Javaun West was in double figures with 12 Atlanta points. The Hornets connected on four three point shots.
Trae Treasure led Brashear with 13 points. Kiley Watson scored 12 BHS points. Justin Hazen sank the lone Brashear three pointer of the contest and finished with nine points. Kale Watson and Matt Thomas scored seven Tiger points each. Ryan Ferdig added one Brashear point.
