Eagles And Lady Tigers Top Brashear Brackets

Brashear was seeded first in the girls’ bracket and Knox County was placed on top of the boys’ bracket at the 2008 Brashear Tournament, slated for February 4-9. Both top seeded teams are defending tournament champions. Team records listed in this story are as of January 26.
The Lady Tigers (8-8) have a first round bye in the seven team girls’ field. Fourth seeded North Shelby and fifth seeded Novinger play on Monday night at 6:30PM in the first round. The winner will challenge Brashear in the Wednesday evening semi-final round at 6:30PM.
Marion County (5-9) drew the two seed. The Lady Mustangs take on seventh seeded Macon County (0-12) on Tuesday night at 7:30 PM in first round action. Third seeded Knox County (8-8) challenges sixth seeded Putnam County JV on Tuesday night at 4:30PM in the first round.
Knox County has beaten the Lady Mustangs twice this season. Winners of the bottom portion of the girls’ bracket will play their championship semi-final game at 7:30 on Thursday evening. The consolation semi-final is at 4:30PM on Thursday.
Top seeded Knox County (10-7) takes on the eight seeded Hannibal JV on Monday night at 5PM in boys’ first round action. Fourth seeded Macon County (12-2) and fifth seeded North Shelby play their first round game at 8PM Monday evening. The boys’ championship semi-final on the top side of the bracket is Wednesday at 8PM.
Second seeded Brashear (11-5) takes on seventh seeded Novinger in the first round Tuesday night at 9PM. Three seed Marion County (7-7) play the sixth seeded Putnam County JV at 6PM on Tuesday. The boy’s championship semi-final is at 9PM on Thursday with the consolation semi-final game at 6PM.
Consolation championships and the boys’ seventh place award will be settled on Friday, February 8. The boys’ seventh place game tips off at 5PM followed by the girls’ consolation championship game at 6:30PM. The boys’ consolation title game starts at 8PM.
The girls’ third place game begins Saturday, February 9 trophy night. Boys’ third place will be decided at 4:30PM. The girls’ championship game begins at 6PM followed by the Brashear Tournament boys’ championship game at 7:30PM.
