Samantha Murfin tossed in a game tying three ball with 30 seconds remaining in Highland’s February 15 home contest with Centralia.
Abby Gaus was fouled on a defensive rebound and sank a free throw in the closing seconds for a come from behind 56-55 win.
The Lady Cougars evened their season record at 11-11 and improved to 4-2 in the Clarence Cannon Conference.
Shawna Kriegshauser scored a game high 17 Highland points. Abby Gaus tallied 12 and Samantha Murfin was in double figures with ten Highland points. Mallory Henry led the Lady Panthers with 16 points.
The Lady Cougars thrashed Louisiana 58-21 on Tuesday night. Abby Gaus scored a game high 28 points and recorded eight Highland steals in three quarters of play. Shawna Kriegshauser was in double figures with 12 points.
Highland goes for a possible second place finish behind conference unbeaten South Shelby when they travel to Macon on Thursday, February 21. Highland and Clark County tangle on February 19.
