KC Eagles Draw Second Seed At Moberly District

State ranked teams sit on top of the brackets at the Class 2, District 6 basketball tournament at Moberly. The tournament is scheduled to run from February 25 to March 1. Weather permitting; the Moberly District will showcase girls and then boys on alternating nights until Championship night on Saturday, March 1
Four girls games are slated to be played on Monday, February 25. Top ranked in Class 2 Westran is the number one girls’ seed. The Lady Hornets take on eighth seeded Milan at 4:30PM starting off tournament play. Third seeded Salisbury and six seed Scotland County take the court at 6PM
Fifth ranked Canton drew the second seed. The Lady Tigers play seventh seeded Paris at 7:30PM. Knox County (10-12) was seeded fifth. The Lady Eagles challenge fourth seeded Marceline at 9PM. Knox County looks to snap a four game losing streak at Palmyra and then hosting Atlanta closing the regular season.
If the Lady Eagles get past Marceline, they will likely face Westran on Wednesday night at 6PM. Canton will likely face Salisbury or Scotland County following at 7:30PM.
Boys’ first round games take place on Tuesday, February 26. Tenth ranked Paris (18-5) takes on eighth seed Milan at 4:30PM. Fourth seeded Scotland County and fifth seeded Westran get together at 6PM. Third seeded Canton challenges sixth seeded Salisbury at 7:30PM.
Knox County won at Paris early in the season. The Eagles split with Canton. Three points decided each game with Canton. The Eagles (15-8) play seventh seeded Marceline (6-15) at 9PM Tuesday in the first round.
The Eagles and Canton will have their rubber match in the district semi-finals on Thursday, February 28 at 7:30PM if the seeds hold. The first boys’ semi final starts at 6PM.
The girls’ district championship game is set for Saturday, March 1 at 5PM. The boy’s championship game follows at 6:30PM.
The winner of Class 2 District 6 takes on the winner of District 5 at Harrisburg in the March 5 Hannibal Sectional. Harrisburg is ranked fourth in Class 2 and Sturgeon carried the ninth ranking last week. New Bloomfield and Community R-6 are also members of District 5.
