Brashear and Macon Co. To Have District Rematch

   Top seeded LaPlata (25-1) rolled to a 58-29 win over Linn County (3-21) opening Class 1 District 6 play at Linn County on February 23. Fifth seeded Atlanta (6-18) knocked off four seed Bucklin (9-15) by a final score of 55-47 in the second game.

   Second seeded Brashear (17-8) overpowered seventh seeded Green City (6-20) by a 58-26 margin. Kale Watson led four Tigers in double figures with 11 points. Macon County picked up win number 20 against five defeats with a 58-42 win over Novinger (6-19) concluding first round play.

   Aric Luman scored 17 points and Dakota Jacques tossed in 11 Wildcat points. Andy Thompson scored a game high 18 Raider points and Josh Bailey added 14 Macon County points.

   Macon County topped Brashear 57-52 at New Cambria last Friday night. The Raiders claimed second place in the Tri-County Conference. The Raiders and Tigers will have a final 2008 meeting at 6PM on Tuesday, February 26 in the district semi-finals.

   Sixth ranked LaPlata challenges Atlanta at 7:30PM on Tuesday for the right to advance to the boys’ district championship game slated for Friday, February 29 at 6:30PM.

   Girls first round games were scheduled for Monday, February 25. Linn County (22-3) is the one seed. Fourth seeded Brashear and fifth seeded Novinger meet in first round action at 5:30PM. The winner will likely face Linn County at 7:30PM on Wednesday, February 27.

   The Class 1 District 6 girls championship game is scheduled for 6:30PM on Saturday, March 1.
