Panthers Surge To Win Over Knox County

   Knox County played with a tough Palmyra Lady Panther basketball team during the first half of their February 19 meeting at Palmyra. The Lady Panthers took a 34-21 halftime lead. Palmyra (17-7) exploded on a 25-3 third quarter run and powered to a 70-33 win.

   Whitney Kroeger scored a game high 21 Palmyra points. Morgan Smyser was in double figures with 12 points. Bridget Hall was next in line with nine Palmyra points.

   “Palmyra is bigger, stronger and faster,” said Knox County coach John Weaver. “We tried to make some adjustments offensively in the second half. We wanted to get more movement and take care of the ball.”

   Tessa Ramer led Knox County (10-13) with nine points. Katie Ausmus, Caley Palmer, Amanda Woods and Lorrie Peters scored five points each. Jessie Stout scored four Knox County points. Seniors Caley Palmer and Jessie Stout scored all nine Knox County points in the fourth quarter.
