   Charles Vernon Miller, age 92, of Palmyra, Missouri died Sunday, March 2, 2008 in Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra, Missouri.

   Born November 19, 1915 in Knox County, Missouri, he was the son of Charles Arthur and Mary Catherine Stout Miller.

   Vernon was a graduate of Newark, Missouri High School and a member of the Steffenville Christian Church.

   On June 26, 1937 in Monticello, Missouri he married Phyllis Blincoe and she preceded him in death on November 29, 1999.

   Also preceding him were his parents; one sister, Fleta Smith; a granddaughter, Tammie Wiemer and an infant grandson, Luke Parrish.

   At the time of his retirement in 1972 he was employed by the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company of Quincy and had previously worked at the Durst Dairy, the Quincy Leather Company and as a self-employed farmer.  Mr. and Mrs. Miller later co-owned and operated the Mid-Way Camper Trailer Sales in Palmyra.  He was a member of the Jim Dandies Square Dance Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking.  Vernon was the last of his Miller line of descendents. 

   He is survived by three daughters: Sharon and husband, Gary Parrish of Liberty, Illinois; Charlene and husband, Carlyn Pflum of Chandler, Arizona; Yvonne and husband, Darrell Harris of Palmyra, Missouri; twelve grandchildren: Eric Parrish, Penny Holtschlag, Cynthia Beswick, Carla Wilson, Chris Pflum, Renee White, Dana Steward, Julius Fleck III, Tracy Sawyer, Darrell Harris Jr. and Stephani Sims; twenty-seven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

   Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2008 in the Coder Funeral Chapel with Reverend Vernon Lee Amsler officiating.  Burial will be in the Steffenville, Missouri Cemetery.

   Visitation on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 4-8 p.m. in the Coder Chapel.
