Lady Indians Advance
By Herb Butler

The Clark County Lady Indians opened their District play Tuesday, February 26, as they were matched with the Highland Lady Cougars, for the fourth time this season. They say it’s hard to beat a team three times, well how about four?
In the opening quarter Kassidy Shuman came to play, as she scored 7 of Clarks 13 opening quarter points, as Clark County took the first, 13-4
The Lady Cougars went to their inside player, Shawna Kriegshiser, for 8 points. Clark responded with Daryle Goldie and Shuman with 3 each, but Highland wins the quarter, 12-8, but the Lady Indians led at intermission, 21-16, as Shuman and Kriegshiser both had 10 points.
The third quarter did not show much for either team. Shuman added another 5 points, Goldie hit another 3, and both teams scored 10 in the quarter. Clark County still held that 5 point halftime lead.
In the final quarter both Shuman and Amanda Winters added a basket, and both were 2 for 2 at the free throw line, but their defense was great, as they held the Lady Cougars to only 3 points, by Samantha Murfin. They sealed the win 11-3, and left with a first round victory, 42-29 over Highland. Clark County will play again Thursday, February 28 against Palmyra.
The Lady Indians were led by Kassidy Shuman, with a game high 19 points, followed by Daryle Goldie, Brittany Logsdon and Amanda Winters with 6 points each. Brittni Bertelli added 3, and Megan Wilson had 2.
The Lady Indians are now 17-7 on the season and on a mission.
