Nettie Lee Edwards age 92, of Edina, Missouri formerly of Knox City, Missouri died April 13, 2008, in the Knox Co. Nursing Home in Edina, Missouri.
Nettie was born June 28, 1915, in Hedge City, Missouri. She was the daughter of Frank and Addie Lee Parrish Rhoades.
She was united in marriage on December 1, 1934 to Elliott Lloyd (Tubby) Edwards in Knox Co. Missouri. He preceded her in death on February 27, 1993. She lived all her life in and around Knox County.
She worked in Quincy, Illinois, at Davis & Cleaver 8 years from 1955 to 1963. In 1963 she started to work at Quincy Paper Box. She worked there till 1968, 4 ½ years. When she retired from work, she took up fishing in local creeks and ponds with permission of the owners of course. It was quite often you would see her car parked along the side of the road, by a pond or the creek. Not for just a short time usually all day long. How often we would hear her say, someone went by and honked their horn, she would say I didn’t know who it was for sure. This was her long time and past time passion.
She is survived by her children, Larry Donovan Edwards and wife Georgia of Rutledge, Sharlee Jean Hubble and husband Larry of Knox City and James Franklin Edwards and wife Francine of Boonville.
Eight grandchildren, Robert and his wife Heather Hubble of Knox City, Rhonda and her husband Mark Cardwell of Edina, Tim and his wife Betty Edwards of Boonville, Larry Wayne and his wife Kathy of Knox City, Richard and his wife Maggie Edwards of Novelty, Brian Edwards of New Jersey, Janie and her husband David Baker of Knox City and Rick and his wife Amy Hubble of Knox City. Two step grandchildren William Robert and wife Cindy Corwin of Centralia and Thomas Corwin of St. Louis. One sister-in-law Marie Rhoades of LaBelle, MO and several nieces and nephews.
Fourteen great grandchildren Zane and Haven Hubble, Mindy, Billy and Junior Cardwell, Morgan, Brynn and Lawson Edwards, Donovan and Nickolas Edwards, Sharri Edwards and Kaydence Baker, Lindsey and Landon Hubble. Five step great grandchildren, Brad Corwin of Rolla, Michael Corwin of Centralia, Kaylin Jones of Baring, Katilyn and Chloe Shelton of Knox City.
Nettie is preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Isolona Hustead and Margaret Rhoades, and two brothers, Rial Rhoades and Albert Rhoades, one sister-in-law, Allie Kathryn Rhoades, and one brother-in-law Granville Hustead and one grandson, Timothy Allen Hubble and a nephew Bobby Rhoades and a great niece Sherri Rhoades Collins Dalton. Nettie enjoyed her family above all, as well as loved to fish.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri. Reverend Mike Wilson will officiate the services. Burial will be in the Knox City Cemetery. Casket bearers will be her grandsons, Robert Hubble, Mark Cardwell, Tim Edwards, Larry Wayne Edwards, Richard Edwards, Brian Edwards, Rick Hubble and David Baker.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 15, 2008, from 6pm till 8pm in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.
