Lewis Co. REC 2008 Youth Tour & CYCLE Winners Announced

Travis Mathes, Manager of Government Relations at Lewis County REC, has announced that Elsa Scott, Clark County R-1, Jenna McDaniel, Canton R-5, and Sarah Stokes, Knox County R-1 have been named the grand prize winners of the 2008 Youth Tour Essay Contest. Each of the winners will receive an all expense paid trip to Washington, D.C.
The winners of the essay contest are chosen from high school Juniors in Lewis County REC’s service territory who submitted an essay on the subject “What Electricity Means To My Life”. Elsa, Jenna, and Sarah will be among a group of 87 young people from all over the state participating in the Missouri Youth Tour. The group will visit the nation’s capital June 14th -19th. Expenses for the trip are shared by cooperatives in Missouri that are sponsors of the “Rural Electric Youth Tour”.
Winners were also selected to attend the Cooperative Youth Conference & Leadership Experience to be held in Jefferson City, MO. July 23th-25th. The CYCLE Conference is sponsored by the Association of Missouri’s Electric Cooperatives. Lewis County REC’s winners are Dakota Blackburn, Canton R-5 School, Ali Pipta, Knox County High School, and Cylee Gutting, Clark County R-1 High School.
