Knox County Eagle Express Rolls On At Putnam County

Knox County put three runs on the board during the third and seventh innings of an April 21, 2008 varsity baseball contest at Putnam County and remained unbeaten on the season with a 7-1 victory. Parker Dixson struck out eight batters in a seven inning complete game effort. The contest was competitive until the Eagles pulled away in the last inning.
Both teams put runners on second and third base in the first inning but failed to score. Dylan Morgret walked leading off the KCHS second inning and later scored on Jordan Harrison’s RBI base hit.
Jacob Shipley drew a walk in the Putnam County (0-6) second inning but was stranded on second base. The Eagles increased their lead to 4-0 in the third inning.
Putnam County hurler fanned a batter leading off the top of the third. Cody Morgenstern started off the three run rally reaching on an error. Six straight Knox County batters reached base. Parker Dixson, and Brett Wilkerson stroked consecutive singles.
Brady Minear drew a one out walk in the PC third inning. Blaine Robinson pressed the Midget threat with a two out base hit. Parker Dixson fanned a batter with Putnam County runners on first and third base holding the Eagles to their 4-0 advantage after three innings.
Matt Brundage has been one of the better pitchers in the Tri-Rivers Conference during his four year Putnam County baseball career. Brundage kept the Eagles in check during the fourth and fifth innings.
Brett Bryant led off the Knox County sixth inning with a hit. Jordan Harrison sacrificed the runner to second base. Putnam County worked their way around the KCHS threat with no scoring.
Kale Triplett drew a walk leading off the Midget sixth inning. Jake Shipley delivered a clutch two out RBI triple scoring Triplett for the lone Putnam County run. Knox County led 4-1 entering the seventh and final inning.
Cody Morgenstern and Parker Dixson greeted relief pitcher Brady Heidenwith with back-to-back doubles. Brett Wilkerson slammed a RBI hit. Brett Bryant came through with an RBI hit pushing the Knox County lead to 7-1. Heidenwith struck out two batters in an inning pitched.
Parker Dixson retired the side in order in the seventh sealing the 7-1 Knox County victory. The Eagles ran their overall record to a perfect 8-0 on the season.
Knox County scored seven times on 11 hits. Parker Dixson was the winning pitcher allowing only three hits and walked six. The middle and lower portion of the KCHS batting order had another good offensive night.
Brett Bryant led the KC offense with a 3-4 batting game with two runs batted in. Jordan Harrison was 2-3 at the plate with an RBI. Brett Wilkerson went 2-4 with a run scored and two batted in.
Parker Dixson was 2-4 with a pair of runs scored and an RBI. Dylan Morgret and Cody Morgenstern scored two Knox County runs each.
Putnam County scored one run on three hits. Brady Minear, Torey Weston, and Jacob Shipley reached base two times each for Putnam County. Shipley was 1-2 with a triple and an RBI.
