Roscoe D. Frederick, 87, of Bible Grove died Sunday, April 27, 2008, at his home in Bible Grove.
He was born the son of E.D. and Elsie (Smith) Frederick on February 11, 1921 near Bible Grove.
Roscoe was raised in the Bible Grove area, graduating from Bible Grove High School in 1941. He farmed until entering the military 1945.
He married the former Joan Hunt on December 15, 1948 in Kirksville. She survives.
To this union four children were born.
He was a long-time member and elder of the Bible Grove Christian Church.
Roscoe worked for Pepsi Cola for 30 years, retiring in 1983. He kept busy keeping up with all the kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. He will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Floyd and Edith Hunt; a son, Ronnie Gene Frederick on January 17, 1980; a son-in-law, Lynn Triplett; three brothers, Henry, Kent and Victor Frederick; three sisters Betty Wright, Ruby Wright, and Janie Frederick; two brothers-in-law, Dale and Terry Hunt.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joan; a daughter, Barbara Anne Smith and husband Larry of Rutledge; sons, Larry Roscoe Frederick and wife Joyce of Bible Grove and Donald Ray Frederick and wife Elizabeth of Bible Grove; brothers, Dean Frederick and wife Louise, John Frederick and wife Maridee, George Frederick and wife Sharon; two sisters, Helen Dickerson and Hazel Unglesbee; three sisters-in-law, Bernice Forrester, Mona Frederick, and Carla Pulliam; grandchildren, Jamie Triplett and wife Dawn, Chad Triplett and wife Heidi, Curt Triplett and wife Vanessa, all of Rutledge, Joanie Triplett Baker and husband James of rural Memphis, Gerald Frederick and wife Kena of Bible Grove, Stanley Frederick and wife Dana of Memphis, Matthew Frederick and wife Kristi of rural Memphis, Vance Frederick and wife Andrea of Lancaster, Lori Frederick Eidson and husband Ryan of Moberly, Kevin Frederick and wife Sara of Bible Grove, Bryan Frederick and wife Kelli of Novinger; great grandchildren, Luke, Lauren, Parker, Owen, Anna and Beau Triplett, Hugh Baker, Laramie, Cheyenne, Sorrell, Hunter, Brant, Payton, Colby, Emma, Kyle, Megan, Kendra, Kassandra, and Kelsey Frederick. Travis Trueblood and Erika Boatman; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 30, at the Bible Grove Christian Church with Larry Smith, pastor of the Downing Christian Church, officiating. Ann Luther and Virginia Hunt performed Because He Lives and the congregation sang Mansion Over The Hilltop. Mr. Frederick’s grandchildren served as his pallbearers. Burial was in the Bible Grove Christian Church Cemetery.
