Eagles Bang Out Conference Win

Parker Dixson fanned five Putnam County batters while Zach Parrish banged out a deuces wild plate performance, leading unbeaten Knox County to a 7-3 Tri-Rivers Conference baseball win over an improving Putnam County Midget ball club.
Zach Parrish doubled leading off the bottom of the first. Daniel McMahon drew a walk putting a pair of Eagles on the bases with none out. Midget hurler Andrew Wagner fanned a batter for the first out of the night.
Putnam County’s defense rose and kept the game scoreless. The Midgets followed a Parker Dixson strikeout with three straight singles. Knox County’s defense prevailed keeping goose eggs on the board through one inning.
Dylan Morgret led off the KCHS second with a hit. Zach Parrish slammed a two RBI double followed by Daniel McMahon’s RBI single for a three run lead. The Eagles scored four times in their second. Parker Dixson pitched around a walk and a hit batsman for a 4-0 KCHS edge after two innings of baseball.
Knox County manufactured two runs in the fourth inning for a 6-0 advantage after four frames. Brady Minear knocked in a Putnam County run in the top of the fifth inning. Jacob Shipley doubled and scored the second PC run of the fifth.
Parker Dixson picked off a runner for the second out of inning five. Knox County paced the board by a 6-2 margin after five innings of play.
Tristan Lonberger singled, stole second base and scored Knox County run number seven on Parker Dixson’s sacrifice fly ball to center field. The Eagles wound up stranding nine runners on the night.
Jacob Shipley walked leading off the top of the Putnam County seventh inning and scored what proved to be the games’ final run. The Midgets scored three runs on five hits and two errors while stranding six. Losing pitcher Andrew Wagner struck out seven batters with three walks in six innings pitched.
Knox County (9-0, 2-0 in the conference) scored seven runs on seven hits and one error. Parker Dixson (3-0) was the winning pitcher. Dixson sported a fine 2.23 ERA after the contest.
Zach Parrish was 2-3 at bat with two runs scored, a pair of doubles and two runs batted in. Dylan Morgret went 2-3 at the dish with a run scored. Tristan Lonberger scored two runs along with a hit.
