Lodema Myrtle Gosney, age 98 of Novelty, Missouri, died Saturday, June 7, 2008, at the Knox County Nursing Home in Edina, Missouri.
She was born on September 21, 1909, southwest of Novelty, Missouri, the daughter of Robert Johnson and Grace Myrtle Welsh Perry.
On December 24, 1931, in Knox County, Missouri she was united in marriage to Albert Lee Gosney and he preceded her in death on June 23, 1984. Lodema was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Sarrah Irene Waibel and Fern Keith, two grandsons Mark Anthony Allensworth and Phillip Eugene Allensworth, one niece Kathy Larue Waibel, one great grandson, Michael Allensworth.
Surviving are two daughters, Myrtle Lee Webber of Maywood, Missouri, and Kathryn Marlene Allensworth and husband Phillip of Channahon, Illinois, one brother Gerald Johnson Perry and wife Betty of Novelty, Missouri, one sister Roberta Anderson of Edina, Missouri, four grandchildren, Gerald Leon Allensworth and wife Ruth, Beth Elaine Brocaille and husband Ed, Kevin Eugene Allensworth and Byron Allensworth, nine great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lodema was raised in the Novelty community where she received her education. She and her husband were engaged in farming southeast of Novelty, Missouri. She attended the Assembly of God Church at Edina, Missouri. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Lodema and her husband enjoyed spending several years during the winter months in Arizona. She also enjoyed gardening, quilting and spending time with family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 12, 2008, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri. The Reverend Robert Stephens will officiate the services. Burial will be in the Novelty Cemetery.
Music will be provided by Karen Stone, soloist and Ed Anderson, organist.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.
