JOSEPH DONALD ALVEY
JOSEPH DONALD ALVEY
1975-2008
Joseph Donald Alvey, 33, of Wyaconda was tragically taken from us on early Sunday morning, June 8, 2008.
He was born the son of Jackie and Lori (Alvey) Cochran on June 3, 1975 in Rolla, MO.
Joe had three children (Shayla, Tyler and Mickey) with Tina Chown.
He grew up traveling from California, to Corpus Christi, TX, and many places in between. He spent the majority of his life in Gorin and Wyaconda. His life was wrapped around his music.
Everywhere Joe went you knew his guitar was with him. He had a natural talent. He could listen to a song and play it. When you asked him for a song, he would give that look – you know that “LOOK” – the one that said, “I’ve got this one in my mind right now, but I’ll play that one in a minute.” Then you got that smile. Joe knew about any song you could think of, and not just strum it but pick it. He wrote his own music, too. What a great talent he was. He will be missed by everyone, as an entertainer and as a friend.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
He is survived by his sons, Allen Pickering of Iowa and Christian Tyler Joseph Alvey of Missouri; daughters, Shayla Ruchelle Alvey and Mickey Lee Alvey of Missouri; parents, Jackie Joe and Lori Jean (Alvey) Cochran of Wyaconda; two sisters, Angela Cochran Droege and her fiancé Travis Allen of Kahoka and Patricia Cochran Gordy and husband Troy of Wyaconda; nephews, Cody and Tristen Kice, Kindel Droege and Tayten Gordy; two nieces, Tiffany and Cheyenne Dundee; aunts and uncles on father’s side, Mike and Mary Hiskey of Utah, Ruby and Don Rightnowar of Illinois, Sharon and Bob Fitzsimmons, Norma and Gerald Mitchell, Betty and Leonard Garret, Bill and Kathy Cochran, James and Shirley Cochran, P.J. and Mike Webber; Lynn Britt and Buddy Gunn, Steve and Melinda Cochran, Debbie and Mike Perry, all of Missouri, and Robbie Cochran of Texas; aunts and uncles on mother’s side, Don Harmon, Chuck Alvey, Dave & Phyllis Alvey, Jerry and Pat Alvey, and Linda and Bob Greenley, all of Missouri; and many cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Wyaconda with Fritz Gerth officiating.
