Area Athletes Take Part In 2008 Do or Die Bowl IV

Clark County head coach Matt Smith will lead the Missouri and Iowa side into the fourth annual KHQA Do or Die Bowl IV. The high school all star football game pits 2008 seniors from Illinois area high schools against area Missouri and Iowa schools. Kelly Sears of Macomb will lead the Illinois All-Stars.

Clark County won the 2007 Tri-Rivers Conference football championship and finished with an overall record of 10-1. Knox County ended their 2007 football campaign with a 5-5 overall record. The mark was one of the top 15 overall football finishes in school history.

The 2008 Do or Die Bowl IV is scheduled for Saturday, June 28 at Quincy’s Flinn Stadium with a 7PM kickoff. The Missouri and Iowa all stars will be designated the West Team and the Illinois All Stars will form the East Team.
The Indians will be represented on the field by linebacker Erick Arnold, offensive lineman and placekicker Ryan Roberts along with defensive lineman Tony Edmonson.
Knox County representatives include their single season rushing record holder Zach Parrish and offensive lineman Ethan Hustead.

Other area athletes on the West Roster include Keokuk, Iowa first team all staters James Vandeberg and James Hurt. The Chiefs won a state football championship in 2007. South Shelby quarterback Luke O’Laughlin and running back Ethan Harris highlight the West roster.

North Shelby linebacker Curt Hubbard and Paris quarterback Joe Gilliam are scheduled to play for the West All Stars.

There is a coaches flag football bowl scheduled for 4:30PM, followed by the Do or Die Bowl kickoff at 7PM.
