Knox County Places Four On Herald-Whig All Area Baseball Team

Senior Daniel McMahon has been named to the 2008 Quincy Herald-Whig and the Kirksville Daily Express All-Area Baseball Teams. Senior Zach Parrish made the Kirksville Daily Express All-Area first team and the Herald-Whig honorable mention baseball team.
McMahon and Parrish were previously named to the Missouri Baseball Coaches Association Class 1 All-State Baseball Team. Both KCHS seniors were also All Tri-Rivers Conference and all district picks.
Knox County (13-3) won the 2008 Tri-Rivers Conference baseball championship. Daniel McMahon and Zach Parrish will play baseball for John Wood Community College next spring.
Area first team Quincy Herald-Whig All-Area selections included Canton seniors Josh Fellinger and Luke Barton. North Shelby junior Josh McEwen along with South Shelby senior Kyler Moore was tabbed to the first team.
Canton senior Ethan Allen was a second team All Quincy Herald-Whig selection. Knox County junior Brett Bryant made the Quincy Herald-Whig and Kirksville Daily Express honorable mention all-area teams. KCHS junior pitcher Parker Dixson earned Quincy Herald-Whig all area honorable mention status.
Brashear senior and Tiger sophomore Matt Thomas made the Kirksville Daily Express honorable mention all area team. North Shelby sophomore Bradley Craigmyle, and Raider junior Michael Stoneburner earned Herald-Whig honorable mention status.
Highland senior Jesse Sparks and junior Paul Power made the Herald-Whig honorable mention baseball team along with South Shelby junior catcher Matt Patterson.
Two time defending state softball champion Palmyra had eight players selected to the 2008 Quincy Herald-Whig All Area Softball Team. Sophomore pitcher Taylor Baxter was the Herald-Whig softball Player of the Year and Panther coach Brian Wosman was the softball coach of the year.
Palmyra seniors Sam O’Brien and Whitney Kroeger joined Taylor Baxter on the softball first team. Lady Panther sophomore outfielder Jessica Van Nostrand was the fourth Palmyra player on the 2008 Quincy Herald-Whig All Area Softball first team.
North Shelby senior catcher Mistie Miller and Lady Raider pitcher Jillian Yoder were first team picks. Highland senior Samantha Murfin was a second team softball all-area selection. Canton sophomore Tori Niemann also made the second team.
Canton seniors Danielle Caldwell and Kelcey Owsley made the 2008 Quincy Herald-Whig all area softball honorable mention unity along with South Shelby senior Courtney Ellison.
