Daniel McMahon Repeats To Sportswriters All-State Class 1 Baseball Team

Knox County R-I graduate Daniel McMahon has been named to the Missouri Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association 2008 Class 1 Baseball Team.

Daniel McMahon was a second team selection as a DH/Utility player. LaPlata junior infielder Curtiss Bunch was the lone Northeast Missouri baseball player selected to the first team.

Daniel McMahon was a first team MSSA baseball all-stater in 2007. Knox County won the 2008 Tri-Rivers Conference baseball championship and finished with a 13-3 overall record. McMahon was previously named to the 2008 Missouri High School Baseball Coaches Association all state team.

The 2008 Tri-Rivers Conference baseball MVP was also named to the Kirksville Daily Express and the Quincy Herald-Whig all area baseball teams. Daniel McMahon batted .489 with four home runs, 14 RBI’s, 23 runs scored and stole 23 bases during the 2008 high school baseball season.

McMahon was 6-2 on the mound with a 2.16 earned run average. He had 72 strikeouts and 34 walks in 54 2/3 innings pitched.
Daniel McMahon has signed a baseball scholarship with John Wood Community College at Quincy, Illinois. His parents are Denny and Kathy McMahon of Edina.

Paris junior catcher William Ransdell and Coyote teammate Derek Vanlandingham, a senior outfielder were Class 1 second team all-state selections. Cairo senior infielder Blake Wilson, LaPlata senior infielder Dusty Baker and Canton senior pitcher Josh Fellinger were also named to the MSSA Class 1 second team.

Palmyra senior outfielder Jason Cox was the lone area Class 2 pick on the second team. Two of the area’s most outstanding pitchers were also second team Class 3 all staters. Kirksville junior pitcher Cody King along with Macon senior pitcher Drew Griewe earned second team honors.
