 Celebrating five years of building hope and saving lives

QUINCY, IL – Blessing Hospital, Quincy Medical Group, and Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University are joining together to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Blessing Cancer Center.

Quincy and the tri-state region have been incredibly supportive of the Blessing Cancer Center. Amazing medical strides and achievements have been made in cancer care enabling Quincy providers to offer quality and convenient cancer care to patients close to home. “We pride ourselves in the services and facilities we have here in Quincy, Illinois to offer cancer patients,” said Dr. Raymond Smith, Oncologist. “We also work closely with other cancer providers, like Siteman Cancer Center, St. Louis, assuring our patients receive the best care possible and access to the latest treatment options.”

Dr. Matthew Ellis and Dr. Timothy Eberlein from the nationally recognized Siteman Cancer Center at Washington University School of Medicine will join Dr. M. Amjad Ali, Dr. Kathryn Arrambide and Dr. Raymond Smith from Quincy Medical Group in a series of informational talks on cancer risk, prevention, treatment and research. This event will take place on August 14, 2008 from 4-7pm at The Ambiance at 5225 Kochs Lane in Quincy, IL. The schedule is as follows:

· 4:30pm – Dr. Timothy Eberlein – Hereditary cancer and genetics

o Dr. Eberlein is the Bixby Professor and Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He also serves as the Director of the Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University Medical Center. Dr. Eberlein serves as the Surgeon-in-Chief at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

· 5:00pm – Dr. Matthew Ellis – The future of cancer care and research

o Matthew James Ellis is a Tenured Associate Professor of Medical Oncology in the Siteman Cancer Center, Department of Medicine at Washington University in St Louis.

· 5:30pm – Dr. Kathryn Arrambide – Breast cancer treatment and prevention

o Dr. Kathryn Arrambide is an Oncologist for Quincy Medical Group. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology and has been with the group since 2003.

· 6:00pm – Dr. M. Amjad Ali – Lung cancer treatment and prevention

o Dr. M. Amjad Ali, Oncologist, joined Quincy Medical Group in 2007. He is board certified in Medical Oncology.

· 6:30pm – Dr. Raymond Smith – Colon cancer treatment and prevention

o Dr. Raymond Smith, Oncologist, joined Quincy Medical Group in 2005. He is board certified in Medical Oncology and Internal Medicine. Dr. Smith serves as the Medical Director of Medical Oncology.

In addition to the educational sessions, there will also be booths offering information regarding many areas of wellness including treatment options, research, screenings, risk assessments and more. Appetizers and refreshments will be served throughout the evening.
