Taylor Resident Arrested On Assault Charges

On Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at approximately 2:50 p.m., Larry J. Uhlmeyer, 53, of Taylor, Missouri, was arrested on a Marion County warrant for felony first degree assault and three counts of felony second degree assault. The arrest warrant was issued and served following the investigation of a shooting incident, which occurred on September 30, 2007, at the Uhlmeyer residence, located at 6540 Highway 6, Taylor, Missouri. Uhlmeyer was taken to the Marion County Jail where he posted a $100,000 bond.

On Sunday, September 30, 2007, at approximately 7:07 a.m., the Marion County Sheriff’s Department responded to a reported shooting incident at the Larry Uhlmeyer residence. Upon arrival officers found James R. Rudd, 25, of Knox City, Missouri, near the residence suffering from gunshot wounds. Rudd was airlifted to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois, and investigators from the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control were summoned to the scene to assist with the investigation. Information determined Rudd had been inside of a garage owned by Uhlmeyer when a confrontation occurred.

The charges for which Uhlmeyer was arrested are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is determine guilt or innocence.
