Putnam County will try for their state record 21st consecutive softball district championship when the Class 2, District 12 softball tournament is held at Scotland County. The tournament is slated for October 8-11, skipping Friday night.
The Lady Midgets and second seeded Schuyler County drew first round byes. Knox County (10-6) is seeded third followed by Highland, Scotland County and Clark County.
The Lady Eagles and Lady Indians will begin district play on Wednesday, October 8 at 5:30PM weather permitting. Highland takes on host Scotland County in the next game.
Putnam County takes on the winner of the Highland vs. Scotland
County contest in semi-final action with a 5:30PM first pitch on Thursday, October 9. The winner of the Clark County vs. Knox County match plays Schuyler County in the second semi-final game at 7:30PM.
The Class 2 District 12 championship game is scheduled for Saturday, October 11 at 2PM. The District 12 winner will likely face two time defending state champion Palmyra, Elsberry or Mark Twain at the Unionville Sectional on Wednesday, October 15.
Quarterfinal action is scheduled to be held at Mexico, Mo on Saturday, October 18. Semi-final and state championship play has been moved to Heritage Park in St. Joseph, Missouri.
The semi-final game on the District 12 side of the bracket has a 12:30PM first pitch on Friday, October 24 with third place and championship games scheduled for the next day.
