Alta Y. Wilsey, age 84, formerly of Wayland, MO, died Thursday, October 16,

2008, at the Clark Co. Nursing Home in Kahoka where she had been a resident the past four years.

She was born September 7, 1924, at St. Francisville, MO, a daughter of Roscoe and Irene Brown Wilsey.

Survivors include a nephew, Robert Hardman, of Wayland, MO; two nieces, Irene (Mrs. Randy) Fish of Kahoka, MO and Sandra (Mrs. Tom) Hansen of Warsaw, IL; a great nephew and two great nieces and their families: Jim Wells and his wife, Kathy, of Kahoka, MO and their son, Quentin: Heather Luft of Keokuk, IA and her children, Kinzie Luft and Wyatt Handyside: and, Christina Hardman-Long of Quincy, IL and her children, Trinity, Nevaeh and Deagan Hardman-Long.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Orpha Hardman McPherson and her husband, Bob, and Maxine Klingebiel and her husband, Chuck; and a brother, George Roscoe Wilsey in infancy.

Alta graduated from Wayland High School and was employed by Dr. Willis Hoewing, first as a receptionist, and later as a dental assistant. She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Wayland and formerly was active in extension and the Order of the Eastern Star. She took seriously the responsibility of serving on the Sand Cemetery Board for many years. She cared for her nieces and nephew and their families and supported their involvement in the Clark Co. Rescue

Squad by supplying many pies to their fundraisers through the years. She also made many doll clothes for nieces as they were growing up.
Graveside services were held Saturday, October 18, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Sand Cemetery in St. Francisville, with Pastor Barb Hagerla officiating.

There was no visitation, however, memorials are suggested to the Sand Cemetery.

Arrangements were handled by Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka.
