19th Annual Horse Celebration to be held January 23rd and 24th

The Missouri Equine Council, Inc. a not-for-profit organization uniting Missouri’s equine industry invites Missouri horse lovers to join the fun at the 19th annual Horse Celebration on January 23rd and 24th at the Boone County Fairgrounds in Columbia.

To commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the Missouri Equine Council, Inc, the 2009 Celebration features exclusively Missouri equine professionals. The talent line up this year includes world renowned clinician Ryan Gingerich, from the RFD-TV television show The Behaviorist, and Dressage Instructor, Diana Rankin.

The very popular Ultimate Equestrian Challenge generously sponsored by MFA, Inc. starts Friday evening and will conclude on Saturday evening. Don’t miss this exciting event as Missouri horse trainers Dennis Cappel from Silex, Steve Atkisson from Grove Spring, and Cecil Huff from Ava are given three hours to get an unbroken horse saddled, bridled, and ridden for the very first time right before your eyes! A panel of judges will decide which trainer will win the coveted 2009 Top Hand belt buckle.

Horse seminars and demonstrations by equine professionals will be held throughout both days.

The Jack Knife Hollow Hick Chicks youth drill team will entertain you and the Stephens College Equestrian Department will put on an Equestrian Fashion Show displaying Western and English attire on horseback. Saturday a statewide Horse Judging Workshop will be held with placings to 10th place. Karen Craighead will judge classes out loud in a special presentation that provides insight into the judging process.

The 2009 Horse Celebration features vendors from around the country who specialize in horse related art, jewelry, riding equipment, treats, and more.

The Horse Celebration runs from 9:00 am 8:30 pm on January 23rd and 24th at the Boone County Fairgrounds in Columbia. Admission is $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 16 and under.
