Lady Indians Fall To Brookfield
The Clark County Lady Indian took a tough loss to a very physical Brookfield Lady Bulldog team on the road Friday night, January 16.
Clark County had a solid first quarter, putting 13 points on the board, but picking up a number of fouls on key players in the process. Brooke Wheeler led the Lady Indians with six, Caitlyn Davis had three, and Megan Brennan and Chelsea Edmondson each had a bucket, but Clark County trailed 16-13 after one.
Britni Bertelli had five points in the second to lead the Indian attack, as Clark County closed the gap to a 27-26 Brookfield lead at the half. Brooke Wheeler scored four more points, while Megan Brenna and Kayla Buschling each added two,
The Indian offense was shut down in the third quarter, as they scored only five points. Megan Brennan and Caitlyn Davis hit buckets, and Cady Flood hit a free throw, but the Lady Indians trailed 35-31 after three.
Clark County made a comeback in the final period, overcoming a six point deficit to tie the game at 39 with 2:57. Brooke Wheeler hit a bucket to take a 41-39 lead with just 46 seconds left, but Brookfield bounced back with a three pointer and a pair of free throws down the stretch. The Indians had a final chance, but Kayla Buschling’s shot rimmed off at the buzzer.
Brooke Wheeler led the Lady Indians with 12, and Megan Brennan had eight. Britni Bertelli and Caitlyn Davis each had five, and Kayla Buschling had four. Cady Flood finished with three, and Rachel Daw and Chelsea Edmondson each had two points in the contest.
