CATHERINE BURK

Catherine “Katy” Burk, 94, of the Knox County Nursing Home in Edina, Missouri, formerly of Dallas City, Illinois died Sunday, February 8, 2009 at 8:35 a.m. at the Knox County Nursing Home.
She was born January 12, 1915 in Knox County, Missouri, the daughter of Harve and Sylvia Runquist Arment.
On October 29, 1939, Katy married William H. “Bill” Burk in Edina, Missouri. He preceded her in death on October 25, 1994.
Katy and Bill owned and operated a restaurant in Baring, Missouri after their marriage and Katy later worked in Chicago for several years, and moved to Niota, Illinois, in 1961. She then moved to Dallas City, Illinois in 1969, where she resided until moving to the Knox County Nursing Home in 2004.
She was a member of the Dallas City Senior Citizens and the Order of the Eastern Star, where she received her fifty year pin. She enjoyed making quilts, crafts, and was an avid card player. She was a very outgoing person and enjoyed life.
Survivors include one sister in-law, Trella Arment of San Simon, Arizona; eleven nieces and nephews, Sidney Jr. “Sonny” and his wife, Deb Arment, of Potosi, Missouri, Mary Ann and her husband, Gary Yoakum of Edina, Missouri, David and his wife, Beverly Arment of Edina, Missouri, Dean and his wife, Donna Cunningham of Kirkwood, Illinois, Gary and his wife, Carol Cunningham of Aledo, Illinois, Rex and his wife, Terry Cunningham of East Alton, Illinois, Betty Schaper of Farmington, Missouri, Jean Hank of Seaton, Illinois, Gordon and his wife, Dorothy Cooper of Aledo, Illinois, Dorothy and her husband, Glen Bennett of Aledo, Illinois, Patricia and her husband, Dick McPheron of Phoenix, Arizona, several great and great-great nieces and nephews and cousins.
Katy was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Burk; two brothers, Santford and his wife Geraldine Arment, and Sidney Arment; three sisters-in-laws, Bernice and her husband Kenneth Franke, Lola and her husband Raymond Cooper and Thelma and her husband James Cunningham.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 13, 2009 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City, Illinois.
The family met with friends at the funeral home on Friday from noon until time of services.
Burial was in the Harris Cemetery near Dallas City, Illinois.
Pastor Allen Davidson officiated. Casket Bearers were Gordon Cooper, David Cooper, Gary Cunningham, Rick Yoakum, Stephen Yoakum, Danny Arment and Honorary Beaers, Carl Kriez, Keith Mallett, Chad Arment, and Joey Holdren.
