NEMO Sportswriters Announce All-District Basketball Teams

Seven area players were among those named to the 2008-09 Northeast Chapter of the Missouri Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association All-District Basketball Teams. Boy’s and girl’s units were selected by assembled association members.
Class 1 thru Class 4 squads representing approximately 31 Northeast Missouri high schools comprise the All-District teams. The MSSA All-District team is separate from the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association All District teams.
The coaches’ association teams are selected from within MSHSAA districts while the MSSA teams take a regional approach.
Knox County was represented by seniors Dennis Dent, Mitchel Penn, Tessa Ramer and sophomore Justin Reeves.
Seniors Kiley Watson, Trae Treasure along with junior Matt Thomas represented Brashear. Senior Kyle Ellison represented Highland on the Class 3 Boy’s second team.
Tessa Ramer averaged 13.3 points per game for the 14-12 Lady Eagles. The KCHS senior guard averaged five rebounds and 2.5 steals per game for the Tri-Rivers Conference second place Lady Eagles.
Tessa Ramer shot 40% from three point land and averaged 68% from the charity stripe. She scored double figure totals in 20 of the Lady Eagles’ 26 games.
Tessa Ramer joined seniors Dennis Dent and Mitchel Penn on the Class 2 District First Team. Dennis Dent was a repeat all-district selection.
The 2008 Class 2 all state selection averaged 20.2 points and 10.1 rebounds per game for the District 14 champion Eagles.
   Dennis Dent recorded two assists and 1.7 blocked shots per contest for the Tri-Rivers Conference second place finishers. Dent recorded 15 double doubles on the recently completed season.
Mitchel Penn averaged 11.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists per contest for Knox County (20-8). Justin Reeves averaged 10.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. Reeves was named to the Class 2 all district second team.
Dennis Dent and Tessa Ramer were 2009 Tri-Rivers Conference first teamers. Dent was a unanimous pick. Mitchel Penn made the Tri-Rivers Conference boys’ second team while Justin Reeves was previously named to the Tri-Rivers all conference third team.
Kiley Watson and Trae Treasure represented 2009 Tri-County Conference champion Brashear (23-5) on the Class 1 Boy’s First Team. Matt Thomas earned second team all-district consideration. Watson, Treasure and Thomas were previously named to the Tri-County Conference boy’s first team.
Kiley Watson was a unanimous Tri-County Conference first team selection. Watson was the TCC boy’s MVP in 2009. Kiley Watson averaged 13.2 points and 10.4 rebounds per contest in his senior season.
Trae Treasure turned in a 13.3 point and 7.6 rebound performance for the district runner up Tigers. Matt Thomas scored 7.9 points, five rebounds and 5.7 assists per game from the point guard position.
