   Seven Knox County athletes were named to the 2009 Quincy
Herald-Whig All Area Basketball Teams, announced in the March 28-29 editions.
Senior forward Dennis Dent was a first team all area selection. Senior Tessa
Ramer was a second team all area pick.

   Sophomore guard Stacey Leckbee and junior forward Lorrie Peters
were Quincy Herald-Whig All Area Honorable Mention girls’ selections. Senior
guard Mitchel Penn and sophomore center Justin Reeves represented the two time
district champion Eagles on the Boy’s Honorable Mention squad.

   Dennis Dent and Tessa Ramer were previously named to the
Tri-Rivers Conference first team and the NEMO Missouri Sportswriters and
Sportscasters Association Class 2 All-District first team.

   Mitchel Penn was a 2008-09 all conference second teamer, and a
MSSA Class 2 first team all-district pick. Justin Reeves made the boy’s all
conference third team as well as the MSSA Class 2 boy’s all district second
team.

   Other immediate area Quincy Herald-Whig All Area selections
included Boy’s first teamers Clark County senior Michael Brennan, Canton senior
Justin Ellison, Palmyra senior Jonathon Nutt and South Shelby senior Matt Patterson.
Nutt was the 2009 Boy’s Player of the Year.

   Canton juniors Jessie Logsdon and Tori Niemann and Marion County
freshman Jessica Redd were Girl’s first team selections.

   Second team boy’s picks included Canton senior Colt Carper,
Palmyra senior Alan Keller, and South Shelby senior Kyler Moore.

   Palmyra senior Danielle Boulware, Canton senior Lindsey Lillard
and Monroe city senior Laura Williams were girl’s second teamers.

   Highland senior Kyle Ellison, Scotland County senior Jacob
Howard, Palmyra senior Jeremy Hultz, Clark County senior Bryan Plenge, Scotland
County junior Kyle Shelley, and North Shelby senior Michael Stoneburner were
boy’s honorable mention picks.

   Monroe City senior Whitney Buckman, Scotland County senior
Kaitln Caldwell, Canton sophomore Kristyn Caldwell, Scotland County senior
Melissa Cotton.

   Marion County junior Jordan Johnson, Highland junior Jessica
Murfin, South Shelby junior Ashley Troyer, Clark County junior Brooke Wheeler,
and North Shelby senior Jillian Yoder were girl’s honorable mention All-Area
selections.
