MARION “PEGGY” MILLER

Marion F. “Peggy” Winterbottom Miller, age 86 of West Lafayette, IN died at her residence on Wednesday, May 13, 2009. Born in Gloucester, New Jersey on July 6, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Laura Erichson Winterbottom. She attended business college. She was Yeoman First Class in the U.S. Navy Waves for three years in the Secretary of the Navy’s office.
On December 7, 1946 she married Andrew J. Miller, Jr. in Magnolia, NJ. He preceded her in death on March 14, 2009.
She was a homemaker. While living in Virginia she volunteered with the mentally challenged, in Missouri with special needs children in local schools, and she also volunteered at her church, Edina United Methodist Church in Edina, MO. She did beautiful counted cross stitch and oil paintings. She was a member of the Edina Culture Club, The American Legion and the Red Hat Society.
Surviving are two sons, James E. Miller (wife, Roxie) of Quincy, IL and Philip A. Miller of Norfolk, VA; two daughters, Nancy E. Flood (husband, Jim) of Lafayette and Melanie G. Naeger (husband, Bob) of Sugarland, TX; and a sister, Elizabeth Webb of Magnolia, NJ. Thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive. A son, Eric Miller and a granddaughter, Brandee Miller, preceded her in death.
A celebration of Peggy’s life will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at the Edina Methodist Church, 200 Main St., Edina, MO 63537, Pastor Sam Smith officiating. A gathering of family and friends will follow. Burial will take place at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
