Results Of “Click It Or Ticket” Enforcement Campaign Conducted In Troop B
Captain John W. Elliott, commanding officer of
Troop B, Macon, announces the results of the “Click It or Ticket” enforcement
operation held in Adair County from May 18, 2009 through May 31, 2009. The
“Click It or Ticket” campaign is part of a national effort focusing on seat belt
violations in an effort to raise seat belt use and awareness. Members of the
Missouri State Highway Patrol have taken a zero tolerance stance on those who
choose not to wear their seat belts, meaning if a motorist is stopped for some
other traffic violation and found not to be in compliance with Missouri’s seat
belt law they will receive a ticket.
As a
result of this enforcement operation, officers made a total of 105 arrests and
issued 211 warnings for other violations. Of those arrests, 60 individuals were
cited for seat belt violations.
“Without a
doubt, the use of seat belts saves lives,” stated Captain Elliott. “We hope
operations such as these help encourage motorists to take a few extra seconds to
buckle their seat belts.”
