Blessing FastCare to open in Quincy Shopko
Blessing FastCare to
open in Quincy Shopko
Blessing Hospital is teaming up with Quincy’s Shopko
store and Bellin Health to open a FastCare clinic inside the Shopko at 3200
Broadway. The opening will occur in mid-to-late summer 2009. The specific
opening date is not yet set.
FastCare is a retail health clinic
exclusive to Bellin Health, based in Green Bay, WI, and Shopko Stores, also
based in Green Bay, WI. Those organizations partner with healthcare providers to
operate FastCare clinics nationwide, offering convenient healthcare services to
the general public for many basic, non-life threatening health
conditions.
“Blessing FastCare patients will receive
the high quality care they expect from Blessing Hospital in a more timely
manner than we can sometimes deliver in the Emergency Center,” said Richard
Saalborn, DO, medical director, Blessing Hospital Emergency Center. Dr.
Saalborn will also serve as Medical Director of Blessing FastCare. “In the
Emergency Center, life threatening conditions get treated first. FastCare should
reduce the wait time for those with non-life threatening conditions that require
medical attention,” he said.
Visits to the Blessing Hospital Emergency
Center have jumped by 24 percent over the past five years, from nearly 41,000 in
2004 to 50,755 in 2008. Blessing FastCare patients will receive care from
certified nurse practitioners or physician assistants. Patients must be 18
months or older.
Conditions treated will include:
- Allergies
- Athlete’s Foot
- Bladder infections
- Cold and flu symptoms

- Ear infections and Swimmer’s
ear - Impetigo
- Insect bites

“Blessing Hospital has long been committed
to bringing healthcare services to the region’s residents, instead of residents
always coming to Blessing Hospital,” said Maureen Kahn, president/CEO, Blessing
Hospital. “Our hospice and home care services are examples of this commitment,
in addition to our growing program of free and reduced price health screenings
held at different locations in the region throughout the year. FastCare adds a
new element to our outreach services.” Blessing FastCare will accept walk-in
patients only. No appointments will be accepted.
